College Avenue Church of Christ, local minister Keith Ellis is certified in disaster relief through the Red Cross. He traveled to New York following 9-11. That church also contributed $25,000 to Pascagoula toward hurricane relief following Katrina. No doubt he will be a blessing to this city as they move through grief , the need for shelter, supplies, and eventually recovery. Brendan Chance, local youth minister, also has brought a work team down to do hurricane relief. He will have a difficult ministry to his youth group. Hold these brothers up in prayer.

Nearby is the Elba Church of Christ. Members of this fine congregation sent workers down to Pascagoula week after week following Katrina, in addition to financial help. Former minister at Elba, Tim Gunnels,  informs me that there was no damage at Elba.

Unrelated to the Tornado, there is another tragedy this morning as a bus of basketball players from Bluffton University near Toledo, OH plunged off of a bridge in Atlanta, killing six players and injuring others. This is a Mennonite-affiliated college.
