When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came. ~Luke 4:13
Luke 4 is one of the texts that tell us of the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. He fasted for 40 days and Satan took advantage of this moment of physical weakness to tempt him to abandon His calling. Jesus was successful in evading the devil’s tactics and did not fall into these traps. So Satan left. For the moment.
You’ve already been tempted by the devil so many times. You’ve failed to overcome those temptations many times. But do not think that Satan is through yet.
If you think that Satan is not looking for opportunities to tempt you, then he has succeeded in blinding you to his evil ways.
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith… ~1 Peter 5:8-9
