Keeping Kat in China

My friend Katherine Gould is a Christian in China talking to people about our Father. I think that’s one of the most awesome things someone can do! She is in need of some funds … much more than I can send. So I decided to have a “silent auction” of ten great Christian books. What began to happen amazed me! I suppose it’s no longer an auction, just an accumulation of gifts!

There have now been two $100 matching gifts that have been answered, and some other bids as well. I hope we can keep this going over the weekend and that by Monday we’ll have accumulated a great gift for Katherine to be able to stay in China to continue her work.  We don’t want her having to come home and travel around raising funds – that’s waisting time and money. Can you help?

I will update the bids as I get them. You can place them in comments here, send them to me via email (johndobbs1130 at gmail dot com), text me, direct message me on Twitter, or send me a message on Facebook. (If you just bid in the newsfeed or twitter stream, I’ll never see it I’m sure!). We’ll wrap things up Monday morning – hopefully with at least $1,000!

Thanks to Trey Morgan , Chris Gallagher,  Greg and Amanda Sanders, Todd & Jennifer Alpers and Doug Young who have all made significant gifts!

Those who are sending gifts (whether you are adding them to our website or not) can send them to:

Garden Ridge Church of Christ
102 N. Garden Ridge
Lewisville, TX 75067
Be sure to earmark your gift for Katherine Gould.

*****Lee Olivas just bumped us to $470!*****

The titles up for auction as one lot are:

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

The Purpose Driven Life Journal

Out of the Question and Into the Mystery by Leonard Sweet

Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell

Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller

A Long Obedience in the Same Direction by Eugene H.Peterson

Solitude and Silence by Jan Johnson

Stories of Emergence edited by Mike Yaconelli

Breaking the Missional Code by Ed Stetzer and David Putnam

How to Survive in a World of Unbelievers by John MacArthur

Coach’s Challenge by Mike Gottfried

Hey – that’s ELEVEN! Woo – this is getting to be a better deal than you thought. Of course the goal is not just the books, but getting some funds to keep Katherine in China.
