Saturday on the Coast

We have had a good response to the request for help to build the Smith’s a new home. Of course it hasn’t started yet, so do not stop contacting us about this project. If you haven’t read the last post, click HERE to do so. I think this is so exciting.

Last night and today I spent some time at the Spring Teen Retreat at Gulf Coast Bible Camp. I enjoyed hearing messages from friends Byron Smith, Trent Bryant, and new friend Mike Bennett. Bill Collins did a great job of leading singing, along with Trent, Joel Jordan, and John Robert Dobbs. I had a class this afternoon that I believe was well received. I enjoyed attending a retreat I did not plan and simply helping out. Trent and I will share leadership at a camp week soon.

Tonight David Kibler and 85 young people from Southern Acres Christian Church arrive to work for the week. This group came in last year and did such an awesome job. David will be speaking Wednesday night. He brought a great message last year, and we look forward to more of the same this year.

Tomorrow, Lord willing, I will finish up my messages through Romans 8. It’s been a blessing to be so  focused on this fantastic chapter. Next? Colossians. Why? It just seems like the right thing to do. Taking my friend Richard May’s astute advice, I’m beginning a series on Easter Sunday. He believes that is a great strategic move!

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. I do not know of many churches of Christ that observe recognition of special days such as this one. Whatever kind of church you attend, are you doing something special for Palm Sunday? We’re going to run an article in our bulletin about it. That may not sound like much to some of you, but that’s more than ever has been done!

I took a couple of peaceful videos (about 30 seconds each) at the camp today. There was a heavy breeze…and you can hear a few shouts from the volleyball court across the pond.  Just thought I’d share!

Have a great Sunday! I’d like to hear about it.

Thanks for reading!
