Revival Prayer: Hindrance

All hindrance to prayer arises from ignorance of the teaching of God’s Holy Word on the life of holiness He has planned for all His children or from an unwillingness to consecrate ourselves fully to Him. – The Kneeling Christian

I’ve noticed that the more I pray, the more I want to pray. And I’ve noticed that the less I pray, the less I want to pray. What are the obstacles to prayer? Sometimes they are not immense hindrances we find ourselves unable to overcome. They are often small … even laughable if it weren’t so serious. When we find ourselves unwilling to pray, we need to call on God to break down the barriers.

God I don’t know what might be standing in my way of giving you my all, but reveal it to me.  Help me to escape the chains of selfishness that keep me from consecrating myself to you alone. Help me to break through attitudes that keep me from opening your word and submitting myself to your teaching. Tear down the barbed wire fences of my own sin and the way it is embedded into my heart.

And not only me, but my church … my community … my nation … my world. God tear away every device of the enemy that is set in place to keep the world in the blindness of sin. Send fire to burn way the blinders and open our eyes to the truth and beauty of your son Jesus.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. ~Psalm 139:23

Help me to be unafraid to submit myself to you, aware that there is nothing hidden from you at all, and yet you extend mercy and grace.

Whatever is in me that is not pleasing to you, take it away Lord.

Whatever is in our church that is not pleasing to you, take it away Lord.

Whatever strongholds the Enemy has, tear them down Lord.
