Robert H. Schuller

Robert H. Schuller passed away today at the age of 88. If you’ve never read his book Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do, you’ve missed a treat.

Have you ever heard the story of the three negative women who lived in the bayou? They complained every day, “We’ve got it bad living in this bayou. No opportunity here. Others are living in the city where they have unlimited opportunities. Us, we got nothing.” This is the complaint they lived their lives by, until one day a positive-thinking woman came along. After listening to the complaints, she said, “Nonsense! Opportunity? You want opportunity? You got opportunity. You live on the bayou. The bayou leads to the river. The river leads to the gulf. The gulf leads to the ocean. You can go anywhere from where you are! These are tough times you’re going through, but if you’re going to get through, it’s up to you. ~Robert H. Schuller, Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do
