I know it won’t always be this way, but it is hard to stop thinking about the horrible act of violence against children last week. Some people can’t get enough – they want to know every detail. Not me. I can’t go to the websites and see the pictures of these precious innocents. I don’t want to know anything about the person who could commit a crime such as this. All I can bring myself to do is to pray and to hurt with the bereaved parents and the entire town.
Today while listening to Hillsong’s Hope of the World I realized this is this the song I need to hear right now. If you haven’t heard it, take a listen. The healing message of Christ is the only refuge I know.
The Hope of the world, Lifted on high, Calling us Home with Arms Out Wide
To Know You Forever, To Love You Forever
I doubt anyone in those hurting families would find their way here. But if that did happen, I would want them to know we remember… we hurt with you… we’d all love to hug and hold you … and just sit quietly while you let it all out. I hope someone has served you that way. And that sometime in the days to come when the pain isn’t as jagged as it is now, you will find hope in the One who calls us home with arms out wide.
