We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. ~ 1 Thessalonians 1:2
It is just easier to understand a principle when you can see it in action. This month at our church my messages are taking a look at some Biblical teachings about gaining momentum in our Christian journey. This is so important because everything we face seems to work against us. Not only outward attacks, but our own inward struggles. Hanging on is all we can do sometimes, but no one wants to live that way. God’s word has something to say to us about building momentum… endurance…perseverance in our lives.
In the sometimes neglected little book of 1 Thessalonians the Apostle Paul writes to a church that he considers a ‘model church’ … the momentum is flowing there. Maybe spending a little time in that first chapter will give us some insights about where momentum gains foothold in our hearts.
One thing is for sure, Paul has an affinity for the Thessalonians. That’s not too hard to understand, realizing they were birthed in controversy and persecution…and they are survivors together. Every time Paul thinks about them he thanks God and then prays for them. This week I plan to write about six areas where momentum had taken hold at Thessalonica…and how it can begin to build in our own lives as well.
Thanks for reading,
