A Prayer for Our Families

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us what true love is by sending Jesus Christ Who brought us into Your family.

Embrace the single-parent families in our community.  May they feel Your Hand of protection and use us as believers to be the hands and feet of Christ to aid them in their times of struggle.

Be with our families that our broken.  We pray that You will bring comfort to adults and children who have been affected by divorce.  We pray for peace and comfort as they navigate difficult waters.

Intervene in families that are struggling.  Give them clarity of vision and a clear path to resolution before catastrophic decisions are made that affect many.  We are thankful for those who have the gift of counseling and pray that You will continue to give them wisdom as they minister to families that are struggling.  Use them as Your mouthpiece.

We thank You for those who have healthy families.  May we not take these for granted but be intentional in the way in which we live out our faith as a family.  Assist us so that we might not only have strong families but model a Christian family to those around us.

Nudge us all to model the Kingdom now. Thank You again for your grace, mercy, forgiveness, and the privilege to be a part of Your family! Amen
