20 Days of Prayer in 2020 #15

A Prayer for Wisdom in the New Year

But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:8,9  NRSV

Dear Father and Creator, You exist beyond our concept of time. Even so, you do not ignore the days and seasons in which we live. We are conscious that time is moving swiftly as we enter into another year.

For the sins of the past year, please forgive. For the missed opportunities and for the times when we simply chose to walk in our own way without You, we repent.

As we step into the first weeks of this new year please give us wisdom for our journey. We desire for our lives to bring you glory. We desire for our choices to magnify your name. We desire for our words to bring the sweetness of the gospel to the world around us whose lives are embittered in sin.

We have personal choices to make that are sometimes difficult. There are conflicts we must face and there are decisions that must be made in all of our lives. Father, In all our ways we acknowledge you, and we trust You to make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:6). Amen.
