What a week for endings.
LOST closed a six year run Sunday night. One thing I love about that is that they chose to end the show. Viewers were strong and loyal. But the story had run its course.
24 aired it’s last episode Monday night. I was a fan for a while. But it just didn’t vary it’s theme enough to keep me interested. Maybe Jack could have done some time travel, fought a polar bear, or run from a smoke monster or something. Anyhow, there’s no denying the popularity of this show. Maggy never misses 24.
American Idol has now aired the last night of competition, featuring the top two performers. Crystal Bowersox has been my choice to win for a long time now, but Lee DeWyze has risen to the challenge. Tonight’s performances really showcased Crystal as a pro, Lee as a hopeful. I will be happy for which ever one wins. They will both have contracts for sure. Although I love American Idol, winning is not a sure ticket to stardom. Some of the losers have had big hits, some of the winners have faded into oblivion. Tomorrow night will be the last of the season.

And this is the last season with Simon Cowell. I didn’t want the judges to change. I didn’t like it when Kara was brought on board. Ellen looks totally lost. I really didn’t like it when Paula departed. And now Simon is leaving. Yes, the show is about the competition. However, the personalities that stay constant are what holds the show together from season to season. Many people do not like Simon, but I have to say that generally agree with most everything he says. In my mind the loss of Abdul and Cowell is the kiss of death for American Idol. Even though they do have the best host on television – Ryan Seacrest.
Well now what? I can’t seem to really get into much of anything on television these days. I like a few other shows, but very few. Criminal Minds is almost always interesting, but after watching for a while the formula begins to emerge. I liked House when it first came on, but again, it’s the same formula in each episode. I thought 24 was that way. I know whenever I watch Everybody Loves Raymond that there is at least one guaranteed belly laugh per episode. Oh, that show is over too.
Perhaps it should tell me something about myself that all of my favorite shows have been cancelled or come to an end. Too many endings in one week. bah.
Thanks for reading,
John
American Idol? Bah. Never got into that golden idol… except for pants on the ground. Now that was a hit!
Actually, commenting with “No comment” IS a comment ;)
Crystal Bowersox is great. She sounds a lot like Janice Joplin. Now I’m showing my age and a like for music that will probably surprise some people!
Yes she is Bill!
there are still some good shows on, theres Bones, The Big Bang Theory, NCIS ;)
Hmm… I have not watched Bones or Big Bang Theory. NCIS, however, is one of Maggy’s crime shows she loves to watch. I find it very dull compared to Criminal Minds. But she loves it! Mark Harmon is just blah as an actor. Anyhoo… maybe I’ll check one of those other ones out!
that part was made for him!!!!!!
Criminal Minds, is WAY 2 scary 4 me :?
Big Bang Theory is a hilarious show; you should check it out. I’ll forgive your insult of Mark Harmon and NCIS (although I haven’t watched in a while).
Don’t forget that Law & Order ended too. I love watching even the reruns. I’m glad they at least ended with a ‘high note’ of Lt. Van Buren’s cancer going into remission.
No comment on your no coment on my orignal comment! Bahahahahaha!
Have you triued Fringe? It is an absolute cool show with lots of mysteries, alternate universes, etc.
it kind of reminds me of X-files without the alien ufo thingy going on.
Loved LOST (even though I entered in the 4th season, and only now caught up on the first 3 seasons while in China!), never got into 24, totally missed all of American Idol this season, and not sure if I will ever have time to catch up!
I pretty much love Simon, except he can be a bit of a womanizer. There will be a huge gap when he leaves the show. I have been wondering how Ellen did this season-was she funny? Paula had trouble putting together coherent sentences sometimes, but she was fun, encouraging, and kept Simon in line ;)
Have you watched Chuck? I have seen a few episodes. Kind of cheesy, but funny. I also love Psych on USA-funny, funny stuff there.
I don’t know-I have kind of enjoyed not having the regular TV stations…I mean, I guess I could find the popular shows here and learn Chinese ;)
It is how you can be behind or never watch many of your favorite shows….and it’s ok. However, I am really glad I got to watch the end of LOST-loved the finale!!
That was supposed to be “It is funny how”…aah, I need to get to bed!! ;)
Mama-sox was awesome last night. I was pulling for Lee to pull a dark horse win, but she was the better of the two last night.
I loved 24. I am going to miss Jack. Not just everyone can save the world, get beaten and tortured and not die in a 24 hour period…more than once.
I liked Ellen this year. She added that self-depreciating humor that just cracks me up. Cara….not so much. I did not like Paula though, she was nuts. Simon told it like it was and I think they may as well cancel the show without him. Every story needs a villan. He played the part in a great way.
Braves Baseball and the tennis majors is about all I watch regularly in the summer. But I try to spend very little time indoors!!
Do none of you get premium (pay for) channels? We get HBO and Showtime,as Tom grew up – literally – living in theaters, and loves TV and movies, and the series HBO and Showtime so successfully present. (We also watch a lot of FX and such.)
We’ve been watching “The Tudors” about the life of Henry VIII, which has been outstanding, and just finished the 10 part “The Pacific” about WWII, as well. Both EXCELLENT.
We will greatly miss LOST, but though the finale sensationally good, and w/o football and the Dallas Cowboys (okay – the Saints, too!!) – the summer looks to be pretty boring.
We went to the theater and saw the new Russell Crowe “Robin Hood,” and greatly enjoyed it. Any of you seen it? VERY good.
Thanks, John!!
Love ya! See ya on FB.

Have you ever watched Lie To Me? It’s a very interesting show and Season 3 will start on June 7. I rarely watch TV, but was recently introduced to this show and I’m now hooked.
