I am evidently part of a small minority of people who do not care for the television program 24. The Blog Prophet, Brian Nicklaus, says that “LOST is the best drama ever on TV…”, and I tend to agree. I watched 24 and quickly picked up on it’s formula. Fans will say, “so what?” … and rightfully so. AFter all, every program has it’s formula designed to tell a story, stimulate viewers, and thus create advertising opportunities.
Tonight the new season of 24 begins. I feel sure Mrs. Dobbs will be watching Jack Baur get beaten endlessly, and when all opportunity has passed and it seems too late, he will revive and get something done to save the world. yawn.
There are no polar bear bones in the sahara dessert, endless supplies of Dharma Initiative supplies, no mysterious smoke clouds that consume people and sound like dinosaurs tromping through the forest, no whispering in the woods before someone dies, no invisible Jacob who directs all things on the island, and no way to move the entire island if the plot demands it! What’s left to like?
Ah well…poll time again!

Let me know what you’re thinking!

We watched the first season on DVD to give it a try, but quit. Too far out and predictable. We didn’t care for it. At all.
We’re big LOST fans. LOST is the best there is!
Hope you’re feeling okay. Saw over on Facebook that you were feeling really bad earlier. Rest!
Many blessings to you all today!

Greetings from wuhan China! I hate I am missing Lost and 24. I like them both.
But we are recording them and are on a much more important mission than Jack Bauer.
Would appreciate prayers from anyone reading this for our daughter Rachel as we will meet her in a few hours and then she starts a huge transition in her life.

Dee, we’re both feeling worse…but thank you. Maggy is sleeping and I slept for about an hour I guess. Yay for LOST!
Tommy, thank you so much for sharing that here…we are so excited for you! Rachel may not understand at first … but she is in for such a blessing! Awesome!

I don’t get LOST at all.
It must just be too sophisticated for me.
It’s like Gilligan’s Island that keeps getting rewrites every 6 minutes.
I tried…. but LOST is lost on me.
I loved your rundown on it though. That is the best synopsis of LOST I’ve ever read and now I am 101% sure I don’t want to watch it. ;)

Ummm, let’s see…polar bears + desert, endless supplies, people-consuming smoke puffs, whispering forestry and “Jacob” the almighty? Now I completely understand why I don’t watch LOST. As for 24……Jack Bauer = hot, hot, hot!!!!! Silly question, silly wabbit! Love ya!

Sis, you think Keifer Southerland is hotter than Matthew Fox? Hmm… I don’t have a mancrush on either of them… but … it seems Fox is better looking than Southerland!

Love both of them–but 24 makes more sense to me–just a man who loves his family and loves his country and will do anything to protect them.
Maggy has good taste in shows.
:)

Never watched it….or Lost. The TV promo spots turn me off. I prefer shows that are more believable.

I agree with Royce about commercials. i have to turn the channel during ads when the kids and I am watching football.
i have been watching Life and House online, only one 45 sec spot for each break.
i may watch lost online as well…if I can wait a full day

I watch LOST and not 24. Really LOST is the only show that I watch, but I do watch some football and hockey.

on 24, we KNOW Jack Bauer isn’t going to die in any given episode.
on Lost, we aren’t sure if the favs/most important will last to the final ep…

On LOST, we don’t even know if the people are real or figments of the polar bear’s imagination. (I like it but it gets weird)
On 24–all the people are real—and there are bad guys and then there is Jack who can look like a bad guy but is really just a misunderstood good guy—teehee

I watched 24 one season, or better, I tolerated 24 one season so I could be with my wife on that night. I find it to be just short of ridiculous. Never watched LOST, so on the recommendation of a close friend, I purchased the first series on DVD. Watched part of disc one and gave it to a church yard sale. Bottom line, I watch very, very little network television and haven’t for years. I just have no respect for about 99% of Hollywood actors and find other things to do with my time than support them.

P. S. That last sentence was not intended to judge anyone who loves those shows … they are just not for me.
