What I wonder is, if we are to encourage, how is the done? I agree with your suggestions, but those require actions from everyone. For most, the encouragement comes from the voice. And when we are assembled together, it appears that only one can encourage at a time. Why is it the only one who can speak is the preacher? Isn't it time we learn to encourage so we can fight the fight? I liked Sarahs post, worship isn't just an hour on Sunday, it is a lifetime!

JD,
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post with us.
It is always my goal on Sunday's to make the congregation to feel as encouraged and uplifted as possible. I look at worship as a pep-rally for Christians to get them built up to face the world Sunday to Wed. and Wed. to Sun. God is so good and as congregations fellowship, meet needs and act as a family. I know it is a blessing to my ministry and family that the church functions as a family of God. It is soooo encouraging. God bless you brother as you continue to make a kingdom difference by encouraging us through your blog.

Encouragement is a vital part of church life. All of us, even leaders as you have so willingly shared with us, can be hammered by life. There are times when "we" are the encouragers and then there are times when the encouragers need encouraging.
Good post brother.
